Which Blazer is it?

EPA figures for each version of the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer. Use them to confirm you are looking at the version that was advertised, and as a yardstick on the test drive.

VersionDriveEPA rating

3.6L 6-cylGasAWD, FWD21–22 mpg
ElectricAWD, RWD279–324 mi range
  • The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer was sold in three versions. Confirm which one this is from the window sticker, the engine cover, or the VIN report before you compare prices.
  • With a full charge, the range estimate on the dash should land near the EPA figure of 279–324 miles. A much lower number on a mild day can mean a worn battery; ask for a battery health report.

Check the odometer against these mileages

Owners report these failures starting around the mileages below. A car inside one of these ranges deserves a closer look at that part, or records showing it was already fixed.

Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Electrical211 crash

High-voltage system faults are the main pattern. Warnings for the high-voltage system and reduced acceleration appear, charging stops working, and some cars lose power or shut off while driving. Several reports place this within the first few thousand miles, some as early as 400 miles. Other owners describe the instrument cluster and infotainment screens going dark, waves of warnings that include power steering failure, and turn signal faults. One crash report blames unexpected braking for a rollover. Repeat dealer visits and software updates often fail to fix the problem.

  • Brakes211 crash

The car brakes hard on its own. This often happens in reverse, where a trash can or a manhole cover can set off automatic emergency braking hard enough to injure people inside. A second pattern is total loss of brake assist. The pedal sinks, a brake assist failure message appears, and the problem clears after a restart. One owner reports it 4 times in the first 450 miles. Many complaints point to recall 25V433, with owners waiting months for parts. One crash report describes a rear-end collision where no safety system responded.

The rear parking brake engages on its own while the car is moving. Reports include reversing at 5 mph and driving at 20 mph, with abrupt stops and sometimes a Service Parking Brake message. One report lists back, neck, and whiplash injuries. Most complaints focus on recall 25V433. Parts are unavailable, cars that fail the recall inspection are held at dealers, and one owner was told parts would not arrive until January 2026. Another owner left the car at the dealer pending a buyback.

  • Automatic emergency braking12No crashes

Automatic emergency braking fires with nothing ahead. Reports cover highway speeds of 55 to 65 mph, left turns, slow school lines, and dawn or dusk driving with cruise control on. The car may drop 15 to 20 mph or come to a full stop, which risks a rear-end collision from following traffic. Some owners report back pain or seatbelt bruising after these stops. Another describes brakes that lock and will not release. Dealers often blame overly sensitive sensors, and many owners turn the system off.

  • Wipers and visibility9No crashes

Glare from the glossy dashboard reflects onto the windshield in sunlight, especially when driving toward the sun. Owners say it hides pedestrians and animals at certain angles and blocks much of the passenger side. The second pattern is wipers that stop working without warning, sometimes in heavy rain or on the interstate, with the washer failing too. Wipers usually return after a restart. One report listing 20 injuries describes glare and false braking, not a wiper failure.

  • Transmission6No crashes

Transmission failures show up at low mileage. Symptoms include searching for gears, revving, jerking, a check engine light, whining, grinding, and rough or hesitant shifts. One car needed a faulty valve body, and parts are on national backorder, leaving cars at dealers with no repair date. On EV versions, one-pedal driving does not work in reverse, so the car lurches backward instead of creeping. Another EV report describes blank displays, grinding inside the dash, and vibration.

  • Airbags32 crashes

Few reports, but two involve crashes with 4 injuries between them. In one crash the airbags did not deflate right away. In the other, the owner blames the parking brake recall for a loss of control that ended on top of a parked pickup. In a third report, the curtain airbags deploy while going slowly over a speed bump. The car then shuts off and will not restart, and OnStar reports a crash that never happened.

  • Exterior lights3No crashes

The turn signal stalk snaps back too hard when it cancels after a turn. That flashes the opposite signal about three times and can mislead drivers behind. Engaging the right signal can also be difficult. The second pattern is a failed right rear LED tail lamp. The brake light and tail light go dark on that side, the signal flashes rapidly, and a lamp failure message appears. One dealer reports GM has no fix yet and told them not to attempt repairs.

  • Suspension3No crashes

Only a few reports. In one, the rear suspension is noisy from the start and then fasteners on the rear strut break at about 1,850 miles. The dealer advises against driving it, and the car sits for 51 days waiting on GM approval. Another report describes severe vibration and wobble at highway speed, like a wheel coming loose. A third complaint is mostly about an unrepaired brake recall.

In owners' own words

Electrical
On February 4, 2026, my wife drove to the bank, a trip of about 10 to 15 minutes, and turned off the car at the ATM. When she tried to leave, the vehicle wouldn't start. After a while, she opened and closed the door and locked and unlocked the car twice with the remote control, and the vehicle started and she was able to drive, but all the warning lights on the dashboard remained on. It is currently at a Chevrolet dealership for diagnosis.

Electrical
Chevy of Wasilla, AK did not properly inspect a safety recall for the rear parking brake harness. After I showed the dealership the pictures of the holes in the brake harness, I was told that the holes in the brake harness is a feature to let water out. Pictures are attached of said holes in brake harness and text message with dealership representative.

Brakes
On April 7, 2025 while backing out of the driveway, my son's car abruptly stopped. The manhole cover at the end of our driveway triggered the emergency braking system. My head was slammed against the headrest and caused a great deal of pain in my head. On April 15, 2025, I went to Kaiser and was told that I have a concussion.

Filed with NHTSA, April 2025

Brakes
The vehicle has engaged the brake on multiple occasions unexpectedly. This is related to the recent recall that GM announced and is unable to repair. I have made multiple attempts to reach GM through written mail, phone, X and the BBB and have not received a satisfactory resolution as the safety issue persists.

Automatic emergency braking
Contining with issue referenced in 11701484. This morning (1/28/26) when leaving my home, I backed out of my driveway. Once I put the car into drive, the forward collision warning went off and locked up my car. The brakes would not release and I could not move out of the way of oncoming traffic. I do not know what allowed the brakes to finally release. I changed over to 4x4, put it into park and back to drive. My car finally was then allowed to move.

Filed with NHTSA, January 2026

Automatic emergency braking
The auto emergency braking engaged while making a left turn. No cars in front. Had someone been behind me, they could have easily hit me. The seat belt locked as well resulting in being able to feel the seat belt inprint hours afterwards. This incident just happened on 11/24/25 and has not be inspected by any dealership or service center. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the incident.

Filed with NHTSA, November 2025

Wipers and visibility
Wipers, Yes available for inspection Wipers would not operate regardless of control speed setting while driving on interstate, could not clean windshield and visibility was dangerously diminished The windshield solvent sprayer did NOT work as well Once I parked, turned off car, started car 30 minutes later and the Wipers were back to operating normally. Not confirmed, because it happens intermittently No Inspections No warning lights or indicators

Filed with NHTSA, January 2025

Wipers and visibility
There is a glare from the dashboard of the vehicle that shines onto the windshield and causes visibility to be nearly impossible. I am unable to see certain things on the roadway as a result. This happens every single time the sun happens to be out and is an extreme safety issue. This vehicle is not safe to operate or be on the roadway in any way shape or form
