Used Car Checklists has no accounts and no sign-up. This page explains what data is involved.

Checklist ticks

When you tick items on a checklist, the ticks are saved in your own browser's local storage so they are still there if you reload the page. They are never sent to us. Use the “Clear” button on the sheet or clear your browser data to remove them.

VIN checks

If you enter a VIN and press “Check VIN”, the VIN is passed to VinExposed, a vehicle history report service, in a new tab. That site's own privacy policy applies from there.

Analytics

We use two tools to see which pages are read and which checklists are used. Neither is used for advertising.

Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views without cookies and without building a profile of you.

Google Analyticsrecords pages viewed and a few actions on the page, such as starting, printing, or finishing a checklist and submitting a VIN check (whether the VIN was valid, never the VIN itself). Outside the EU, EEA, UK, and Switzerland it sets first-party cookies to tell visits apart. In those regions it runs without cookies or identifiers. Google's use of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites that use its services, and you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes standard request data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and block abuse.
