Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2025 Infiniti QX60, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Engine3No crashes

Vibration and a rough idle show up while stopped in Drive, at traffic lights or in stop-and-go traffic, and are often worse after the engine warms up. The shaking continues despite regular oil changes and maintenance. Owners suspect an engine mount or idle control fault, but no confirmed cause is reported. A more serious report describes the engine dying and the car coming to a full stop on the highway, which creates a real crash risk in traffic.

  • Fuel system2No crashes

Sudden shutdowns at highway speed leave little time to reach the shoulder, and one such car needed a tow and a new fuel pump at 12,287 miles. Separate reports describe hesitation when pulling out from a stop: the car pauses as if stalling, then surges forward. The transmission can also stay stuck in a low gear under acceleration. Dealers have not always been able to reproduce the hesitation, which leaves the problem unresolved when merging into fast traffic.

  • Brakes2No crashes

Rear rotors warp and rear pads wear down to 1mm or 2mm before 22,000 miles, and in that case warranty coverage was refused. A more alarming report describes the brakes locking up hard when approaching a red light behind other cars, releasing only after repeated pedal presses. Both problems raise the risk of a collision. The same owner had earlier been told the active noise cancellation was disabled as a temporary fix while engineering reviewed an engine noise.

  • Wheels and tires2No crashes

Clunking from a front wheel turned out to be a loose wheel close to coming off, found at about 4650 miles on a car never serviced elsewhere, with a wheel lock lug nut missing on the other side. A loose wheel risks loss of control. Separately, the car shakes and sways at higher speeds. The dealer confirmed a fault in that case, but the manufacturer blamed local road conditions and the problem continues.

In owners' own words

Excerpts from complaints QX60 owners filed with NHTSA, as written. Listen for the same symptoms on your test drive.

Fuel system
While driving on highway vehicle completely shut down . Barely giving time to pull over to the shoulder. The car required a tow. After inspection it was determined the Fuel pump needed to be replaced with 12,287 miles on the vehicle

Filed with NHTSA, June 2026

Fuel system
Pulling onto 55mph road from a stop, the car began to accelerate then lagged(felt like a pause/stall in acceleration) and then overcompensated with rapid acceleration. This has happened multiple times. The vehicle has also gotten stuck in a low gear when accelerating in auto mode. Took the car to the dealership expressing safety concern of unreliable acceleration and they couldn’t replicate the issue.

Filed with NHTSA, July 2026

Brakes
Defective rear brakes & rear rotors at less then 22,000 miles on a 2025 QX60 almost causing major accident. Rotors warped & pads worn down to 1mm/2mm. Defective OEM parts used by Infiniti, refusal to cover under vehicle warranty.

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2025 Murano, Pathfinder, and INFINITI QX60 vehicles. One or both front brake caliper assemblies may have reduced strength and could break. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems.".

Risk: A broken front brake caliper can cause a loss of front brake function, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the front brake caliper assemblies as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 9, 2025. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 800-647-7261 or INFINITI's customer service at 1-800-662-6200. Nissan's numbers for this recall are PD137 and PD138.
