Brakes lose power assist or fail without warning, and the most serious report links this to a faulty brake booster vacuum sensor. That problem first showed up as a brake assist warning, was repaired at about 6,747 miles, and came back after the repair at about 12,233 miles. Losing braking in traffic carries a real crash risk. Another complaint describes the car braking abruptly and very hard while slowly reversing into a parking space with nothing in its path.
Two different engine-area problems appear in the complaints, both early in ownership. One is an abnormal noise at cold start along with an intermittent vibration while driving, which a dealer called normal. The other is red fluid leaking onto the ground at about 6,700 miles. The dealer blamed faulty transmission bolts and said the fix meant dropping the transmission, which made for a long repair. Neither report describes a stall or a fire.

I was backing up into a parking space in a parking garage. I was about halfway into the spot and was not in danger of hitting any vehicles or objects and my vehicle abruptly (extremely hard) braked.

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Cadillac XT5 and 2024-2025 Cadillac XT6 vehicles. The instrument panel may not illuminate when the hazard warning lights, high beams, or turn signals are activated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 101, "Controls and Displays" and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Assoc. Equipment.".
Risk: Without the illuminated reminder, the driver could fail to turn off the lights when no longer needed. Hazard warning lights, high beams, or turn signals that remain activated unintentionally can confuse other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will update the instrument panel software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 13, 2024. Owners may contact Cadillac's customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N242447940.
