These years share the 2023's design and most of its parts, so their problems are the ones to look for on this car too.

Worth adding to your 2023 checks

  • Confirm the car starts after sitting overnight, and check records for battery replacements or repeated no-start visits.
  • Open and close the power liftgate several times, and confirm it latches with no not-secure warning.
  • Inspect the panoramic sunroof glass for cracks, and listen for creaking from the roof on rough pavement.

Which QX60 is it?

EPA figures for each version of the 2023 Infiniti QX60. Use them to confirm you are looking at the version that was advertised, and as a yardstick on the test drive.

VersionDriveEPA rating
3.5L 6-cylAWD, FWD22–23 mpg
  • Reset the trip computer at the start of the drive. A QX60 that averages well under the EPA 22 mpg combined on a mixed route may have an engine or tire problem.

Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2023 Infiniti QX60, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Electrical4No crashes

One engine fire is reported in a parked vehicle, with no warning beforehand. Most other complaints describe infotainment and accessory faults. Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and maps drop out, sometimes daily. The wireless charging pad and USB port overheat phones, and the pad may not charge at all. Door locks fail in rain and leave drivers locked out, or doors lock on their own. Other reports cite false parking sonar warnings and faults in the mirror and trunk. Dealers have tried firmware updates or blamed the phone.

  • Transmission3No crashes

The shifter does not reliably hold its position. The car rolls or lurches after being put in park, and one injury is reported when it knocked a person to the ground. Other reports say the car jumps out of park back into drive. One car refused to go from neutral into drive after a car wash and then put itself in park. Owners also describe lurching from a stop and hesitation when speeding up. One dealer said Infiniti knows about the problems but has no fix.

  • Brakes2No crashes

The car lurches forward 3-5 inches when shifted into park, on flat ground or on a slope, with or without the parking brake set. An Infiniti inspection found nothing wrong with the brakes or rotors. This matches the park-engagement complaints filed under other categories. A separate report says the rear brake pads needed replacing at 20K miles.

  • Engine2No crashes

The car lurches forward several inches after being put in park, even with a door open and the parking brake set. This makes reversing into parking spaces risky, and the dealer could not reproduce it. Separately, the check engine light comes on and the car loses power in traffic, then shuts off. Repairs started with sensors and moved on to a fuel pump replacement, which matches the stalling reports under fuel system.

  • Seats2No crashes

The second row slides freely on its track, even with weight in the seat, and the power button can be worked from the third row. Families also report that with two car seats installed in the second row using seat belts, the seats cannot flip forward. Nobody can then reach the third row without taking out the children and car seats. That makes emergency exit and checking a child's buckle difficult.

  • Fuel system2No crashes

The engine loses power and stalls in traffic and at highway speed, as if the tank were empty, and shows an "Engine Stalled" message. Some cars restart and then die again. Trouble codes point to low fuel pressure (P0087) and the fuel pressure regulator circuit (P0090). Dealers replace the fuel pump, in one case twice, and reports come in at 21000 to about 43k miles. A stall at speed carries a serious crash risk.

Brakes
The car lurches forward 3-5 inches when it is shifted into park. This happens regardless of flat ground or on an incline. This issue has happened since the purchase of the car in February 2023. I had the car inspected by Infiniti and they found no issues with the brakes/rotors or braking system. This happens regardless of if the parking brake is engaged or not.

Where the 2023 fits in the QX60's history

Redesigns and mid-cycle updates change what can go wrong.

The 2023 is the second model year of the QX60's second generation (2022–2023).

Infiniti updated the QX60 for 2026, so a 2023 does not have those changes.

What changed for 2026 (not on a 2023)

  • Redesigned front fascia
  • Introducing new digital instrument cluster
  • New infotainment system with Google built-in
  • Added advanced driving assist features
