Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2024 Infiniti QX60, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Electrical41 crash

The engine shuts off while driving with no warning lights. In one report it happens at highway speed and the transmission drops into neutral. In another it follows a car wash, and the engine restarts after a delay. The crash-related report says the parking collision warning and automatic emergency braking fail to react while reversing, leading to a minor hit with property damage only. Other reports describe a rear window that lowers on its own, a side mirror that won't unfold, washer fluid that drains away, and water leaking in at a door. Some of these begin around six months into ownership.

  • Wipers and visibility3No crashes

Lights seen through the windshield show a double image, which is worst at night and causes eye strain. Owners link this to cars with a head-up display. The driver-side mirror glass vibrates under all driving conditions and blurs the view during lane changes. The passenger-side mirror does not. A dealer confirmed the vibration but called it normal for the model, and no fix is available. In moderate to heavy rain, the wiper pushes water onto the driver's window, where it streaks across the mirror view.

In owners' own words

Excerpts from complaints QX60 owners filed with NHTSA, as written. Listen for the same symptoms on your test drive.

Wipers and visibility
Distorted view through the windshield. When looking at lights, double image is visible. This is especially pronounced at nights, causing poor visibility and eye strain. This issue seems to be isolated to vehicles with heads up display, because of the lamination.
