Transmission faults dominate these reports. The transmission slips, shudders, or will not engage reverse, so the car can only move forward. Other owners describe abrupt jerks on 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th gear shifts, lurching at low speed, and sudden loss of power that leaves the car unable to accelerate in traffic. Some failures start almost new, one at 114 miles. Dealers often cannot reproduce the jerks, and fluid flushes do not fix them. Several cars are diagnosed as needing transmission parts or a full replacement, with parts on backorder and owners told not to drive.
The instrument panel and center screen go black while driving, taking the speedometer, gauges, and radio with them. Adaptive cruise control shuts off at the same time, and the displays can stay dark for several minutes. Dealers try software updates first, but the fault often returns until the instrument panel is replaced. Other reports describe the car shutting down while driving, a stiff or seized steering wheel, and repeated ABS, brake service, and check engine warnings that dealers cannot trace. Owners also report waits for repair parts and a rear camera that stops working with a warning icon.

Transmission suddered. Took to the dealer and they said that there are parts in the transmission that need to be replaced. They recommended not driving the vehicle because there could be complete faliure of the transmission causing the car not to move. They said that parts are on backorder and did not give a timeline of when the parts would be available. They said they did not have a vehicle to drive while we wait.

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Cadillac XT5 and 2024-2025 Cadillac XT6 vehicles. The instrument panel may not illuminate when the hazard warning lights, high beams, or turn signals are activated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 101, "Controls and Displays" and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Assoc. Equipment.".
Risk: Without the illuminated reminder, the driver could fail to turn off the lights when no longer needed. Hazard warning lights, high beams, or turn signals that remain activated unintentionally can confuse other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fix: Dealers will update the instrument panel software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 13, 2024. Owners may contact Cadillac's customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N242447940.
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023 GMC Acadia and 2024 Cadilac XT5 and XT6 vehicles. The windshield may have been assembled without the proper urethane sealant required to bond the windshield to the vehicle body.
Risk: A windshield that is not properly bonded may detach during a crash and increase the risk of injury.
Fix: Dealers will inspect the windshield and apply primer and urethane sealant. If the windshield is damaged, the dealer will replace it. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 14, 2023. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782.
