Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2024 Audi e-tron, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Electrical131 crash

The car shuts off while idling or driving, refuses to start, or fails to charge. Many of these failures show up in the first few hundred miles. Warnings for the electrical system, safety systems, and the pedestrian warning sound appear again and again, and dealer software updates do not always stop them. Other reports describe sudden hard braking when pulling away from a stop, unintended acceleration, and an SOS system that calls for help on its own. One crash with 2 injuries is reported. Several filings are about a recall repair that is on hold because the part is not yet available.

  • Steering21 crash

Unintended acceleration at parking-lot speed, with no response to the brake pedal or steering wheel, is the main concern. It led to one reported crash, and no warning light came on beforehand. The other filing describes a total electrical failure in a parked car. A brake system warning appeared, the car could not be shifted into neutral, and it had to be jump-started and towed. That report concerns a 2022 model, not a 2024.

  • Backup camera21 crash

Automatic emergency braking, cross-traffic warning, and forward collision warning can fail to react in a parking lot. One reported crash involved two vehicles and ended with the car declared a total loss. The pedestrian warning sound also cuts out at random in both drive and reverse, so people behind the car may not hear it moving. This sound failure shows up early, around 1,100 miles, and its cause has not been found.

  • Transmission2No crashes

Drive system and all-wheel-drive malfunction warnings come back repeatedly, and the car may not start reliably. Repeated dealer visits often leave the problem unresolved. In one case the 12-volt battery was replaced around 866 miles, yet drive-system and electrical faults returned soon after. Reports also mention a failed front camera, fingerprint entry that intermittently fails, and remote lock and climate functions that stop working. None of these reports involve a crash.

  • Wheels and tires2No crashes

Tread comes apart, with large chunks of rubber pulling away, at around 13k miles. A dealer says it has seen this problem before with the same tire. A second report describes a blowout on Bridgestone Alenza tires in size 255/45/R20 at about 114,630 miles. A "Tire Pressure Lost" warning came on, and all four tires were replaced afterward. Neither report involves a crash.

In owners' own words

Excerpts from complaints e-tron owners filed with NHTSA, as written. Listen for the same symptoms on your test drive.

Electrical
Car had electrical malfunction warning please contact costumer support and car died and zero damage to the body or the car. But the side air bags faulty went off. This car had a prior recall on file for same issues of car dying off and clerical problems. I got this car in September 2025 and had issue with it within the second month of having this car. I was not told there was a prior recall at all.
