Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2025 Mazda CX-30, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Electrical9No crashes

Doors fail to autolock, again and again. That is the most repeated fault in these 9 complaints, and it often comes with a dead dash liftgate button, rear seat sensor alerts, and audio settings that reset themselves. Some drivers see i-Activsense warnings that flash and cannot be turned off. One more serious report describes ABS and driver-assist features shutting off for days, then a no-start that needed a tow. The dealer replaced a wiring harness and kept the car for over a month. Other reports cover a wireless charger that makes phones too hot to hold and key fobs that break apart.

  • Brakes21 crash

A driver's foot slipped between the brake and accelerator pedals and got stuck, and the car hit a garage wall at low speed. The manufacturer said it could not change the pedal spacing. The other complaint describes i-Activsense, In Vehicle Network, and ABS malfunction messages, plus several warning lights, at 71 miles. The dealer traced it to a harness failure, but the part was not available. The car stayed unrepaired, and the owner got a rental.

  • Wheels and tires2No crashes

Tire pressures swing more than expected and don't match from tire to tire. Both complaints describe readings that change a lot in mild conditions. One reports a 3 psi rise after a 10-mile city drive at 40 mph in 70-degree weather. The other says the uneven readings have continued for the 3 months since purchase. Neither report mentions a crash, a tire failure, or a dealer diagnosis.

In owners' own words

Excerpts from complaints CX-30 owners filed with NHTSA, as written. Listen for the same symptoms on your test drive.

Electrical
It seems like the computer has defaulted to receive the lowest possible gas mileage- if this is somehow communicating with the fuel system- its definitely affecting how much mileage I could be getting and robbing me of up to 100 miles per tank.

Filed with NHTSA, December 2025

Electrical
I have been having repeated issues with the doors not autolocking, liftgate functionality, rear seat sensor, and random (collision?) warnings/sensors - among other settings that keep coming undone (audio options, etc) since the purchase of this car that I have been diligently notating/timestamping- i have close to 200 occurences so far. Just submitting another report to let you know it is STILL happening and IS NOT user error.

Recalls to confirm (1)

Recall repairs are free at any Mazda dealer, but the seller may never have had them done. Check each campaign number against the VIN.

  1. 25V357000AirbagsMay 2025

Mazda North American Operations is recalling certain 2024-2025 Mazda3 and CX30 vehicles. The Sophisticated Air Bag Sensor (SAS) units may set an error code and deactivate the air bags, due to a low battery condition.

Risk: Air bags that do not deploy in the event of a crash increase the risk of injury.

Fix: Dealers will reprogram the SAS unit with improved software or replace the unit, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 24, 2025. Mazda's number for this recall is 7525E.
