Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2025 Jeep Compass, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Electrical6No crashes

Sudden loss of power while driving is the main pattern, sometimes at highway speed. Several warning lights come on at once, and safety features such as blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning, and automatic high beams report as unavailable. Some reports describe heavy steering, a black screen, or the car shutting off. A no-start is also reported at about 550 miles. Dealers often cannot duplicate the fault, and the failures come back. One repair was a battery replacement. In another case, the dealer found a failed main computer, and the replacement part was on back order.

  • Airbags22 crashes

An airbag near the steering column deploys in a low-speed collision, comes loose from the vehicle, and strikes the driver's legs, causing a wound that needs hospital care and surgery. That is the only injury report. The other complaint describes a deer strike at highway speed that leaves the car undrivable with no airbags deployed. Both complaints involve crashes. With only 2 on file, no broader pattern is visible yet.
