Why these checks: what owners reported

  • Wipers and visibility2No crashes

The driver side mirror can vibrate while driving, and it gets worse above 35 mph. The shaking blurs the reflected image of nearby vehicles and distracts the driver. A dealer technician confirmed the vibration and replaced the mirror, but the new one still shook. Only 2 complaints are on file, and one of them gives no detail beyond an attached document. Nothing reported points to a crash, but a blurred mirror makes lane changes harder to judge.

In owners' own words

Excerpts from complaints RDX owners filed with NHTSA, as written. Listen for the same symptoms on your test drive.

Wipers and visibility
Driver side mirror is vibrating while driving- more noticeable at speeds above 35 mph. Took into the dealer for replacement. After ride with tech, tech confirmed issue. Dealer replaced driver side mirror but still shakes/vibrates while driving. Vibration causes distortion of vehicles and other surrounding items in driver side mirror. Also, vibration causes distraction to driver.

Recalls to confirm (1)

Recall repairs are free at any Acura dealer, but the seller may never have had them done. Check each campaign number against the VIN.

  1. 24V114000SteeringFeb 2024

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Odyssey and 2024 Acura RDX vehicles. The steering gear box assembly may not have been tightened properly, allowing water to enter the assembly and cause corrosion and binding gears.

Risk: Corroded and binding steering gears can result in a loss of steering control and increase the risk of a crash.

Fix: Dealers will replace the electric power steering rack, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 4, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are LHU and FHT.
