Worth adding to your 2026 checks

  • Shift into reverse and check every camera view, including the 360 view, for a "Camera temporarily unavailable" message or crossed-out cameras.
  • On a long test drive, watch the center screen, instrument cluster and heads-up display for blackouts or resets.
  • While driving, confirm the turn-signal sound, warning chimes, climate control and blind-spot lights all work.

  • On the hybrid, watch for the car moving off on electric power at low speed and for any hybrid system warning on the dash.

Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2026 Volvo XC60, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Wipers and visibility2No crashes

Side window glass in the front and rear doors turns cloudy or hazy. The haze gets worse when light hits the glass, and visibility drops sharply. That makes shoulder checks before lane changes harder because the view through the side windows is not clear. Complaints blame a flaw in the window tint and lamination process, and one links the problem to the Ultra trim package. The automaker reportedly denies that it is a defect and declines to repair it. Only 2 complaints are on file, and none gives a mileage.

In owners' own words

Excerpts from complaints XC60 owners filed with NHTSA, as written. Listen for the same symptoms on your test drive.

Wipers and visibility
The passenger side windows on both the driver and passenger side are foggy due to a defect in the window tint and lamination process. These hazy and foggy window are a safety concern when looking over your shoulder when changing lanes as the view through the glass is not clear.

Filed with NHTSA, January 2026

Wipers and visibility
The side windows in the front and back seats are cloudy. When light hits the windows, visibility is greatly decreased. The company denies this is a defect and refuses to repair the issue. The problem occurs on all XC60 and XC90 models with the Ultra trim package.

Filed with NHTSA, November 2025
