Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2023 Nissan Sentra, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Electrical5No crashes

Starting and warning-light faults lead these reports. One car will not crank about once a week, showing a malfunction or ABS light, and needs a jump start each time. Another battery dies at 24,000 miles. Other complaints describe a key fob "Low Battery" message that stays on after new fob batteries, and loud static over Apple CarPlay that cuts out calls and music until the cable is replugged. Backup cameras also go blank, leaving no rear view in reverse, and dealers do not always confirm the fault.

  • Steering31 crash

A fractured tie rod causes the most serious report. After a slow right turn the car jerks right and hits a parked vehicle, injuring the driver. The car had recently driven over potholes. The dealer finds the broken tie rod but cannot repair it because the part is on back order. The other reports describe different faults: the dash goes dark with gauges dropping to zero, the radio and center screen die and take the backup camera with them, and an axle clicks after two warranty repairs. A Forward Emergency Brake warning also flashes and the dealer cannot reproduce it.

Problem occurred on 11/29/24 at 5:00pm

Recalls to confirm (1)

Recall repairs are free at any Nissan dealer, but the seller may never have had them done. Check each campaign number against the VIN.

  1. 24V154000AirbagsFeb 2024

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2024 Titan, Frontier, Infiniti QX60, Pathfinder, 2023-2024 Sentra, Versa, Kicks, Infiniti QX50, and 2023 Rogue vehicles. Due to a manufacturing issue, the driver's air bag inflator may absorb moisture, and cause the air bag to deploy improperly.

Risk: An air bag that deploys improperly may not protect the driver as intended during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Fix: Dealers will replace the front driver's air bag assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 10, 2024. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's numbers for this recall are PD103, PD104, and PMA34.
