VersionDriveEPA rating

  • Reset the trip computer at the start of the drive. A Navigator that averages well under the EPA 18 mpg combined on a mixed route may have an engine or tire problem.

Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2022 Lincoln Navigator, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Electrical72 crashes

The center screen goes black or reboots, sometimes while driving, and takes down audio, massage seats, and the power running boards with it. Replacing the module behind the screen often does not stop it from coming back. Driver aids also misbehave: pre-collision braking fails to stop the car, and Active Assist drops abruptly to 45 mph on open road. Some cars will not start because they ignore the key fob and phone app. Two reports involve crashes. One caused an injury, and in the other the car surged in reverse while the brake did not register. Another report describes an engine-bay fire in a car parked overnight.

In owners' own words

Excerpts from complaints Navigator owners filed with NHTSA, as written. Listen for the same symptoms on your test drive.

ElectricalCrash reported
I was driving and didn't notice this truck ahead of me as I switched lanes. Although fault is questionable since the truck we traveling extremely slow on the highway, my vehicle had plenty of time to stop with the Pre-Collision System. That system is intended to avoid front end collisions and apply emergency breaks if required. IT DIDN'T. I have video of the system failure from my Dash Cam.

ElectricalCrash reported
