Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Electrical3No crashes

The instrument display can go completely blank while driving, hiding speed, gear, and battery level. Restarting the car and resetting the screen may not bring it back, and dealers have struggled to reproduce the fault or find a cause. Most of the 3 complaints are about recalls, not new failures. They cite a software update for the powertrain control module and secondary on-board diagnostic module, plus a park rod replacement. Buyers describe waiting weeks for parts that have no delivery date, so some new cars sit at the dealer before handover.

  • Transmission3No crashes

The car can lose propulsion suddenly in traffic. A red "Stop Safely Now" warning appears with powertrain and brake alerts, and the car locks in Park with no prior warning. Other reports describe a shift system fault where the car will not go into Park or Drive and the electronic parking brake engages on its own, stranding the driver in the road. One report came in under 900 miles. Both failures carry a real crash risk in moving traffic. Several complaints are about dealers holding cars for weeks while waiting on park rod recall parts.
