Which Lyriq is it?

EPA figures for each version of the 2025 Cadillac Lyriq. Use them to confirm you are looking at the version that was advertised, and as a yardstick on the test drive.

VersionDriveEPA rating
ElectricAWD, RWD319–326 mi range
  • With a full charge, the range estimate on the dash should land near the EPA figure of 319–326 miles. A much lower number on a mild day can mean a worn battery; ask for a battery health report.

Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2025 Cadillac Lyriq, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Electrical4No crashes

Telematics module failures are the main pattern. When the module dies, OnStar crash notification stops working, GPS loses its position, and cellular and WiFi connectivity drop out. That also breaks the app's charge level and charging-route data. Dealers describe the replacement part as back-ordered with no ETA. A separate report describes the car failing to wake after parking, leaving every electrical system dead for 30 to 60 minutes, more than once. The infotainment screen can also dim until it is nearly unreadable at dusk and dawn, even at maximum brightness.

  • Brakes22 crashes

The car fails to stop when the brake pedal is pressed at low speed. Both reports ended in crashes, with 3 injuries in total. In one, the pedal sinks to the floor and jerks, no warning lights come on, and automatic emergency braking does not step in. In the other, the car keeps moving forward during a parking-lot stop, climbs a curb, and enters a building. Both events happened at walking pace, around 5 mph or while parking, so the risk centers on stop-and-go traffic and parking.

  • Fuel system2No crashes

Unintended acceleration is the main concern. One report describes the car still speeding up on the highway after the accelerator is released and the pedal has returned to its normal position. Only full force on the brakes stops it. That hard braking left flames visible at a brake, which explains the fire flag. The second report covers an incident on a curving uphill road at about 30 mph, with all cameras and sensors clean and software current. The excerpt cuts off before it describes what the car did.

In owners' own words

Excerpts from complaints Lyriq owners filed with NHTSA, as written. Listen for the same symptoms on your test drive.

Electrical
Telematics module failed and the vehicle couldn’t connect to emergency OnStar services if involved in crash. GPS also doesn’t work with a faulty module. No cellular or WiFi connectivity. Car reroutes to somewhere without this module working. I’m paying for the OnStar subscription but with a faulty module it can’t connect. GM says part back ordered with no ETA. Thousands of people are reporting the same problem and it should be a recall at this point.

Filed with NHTSA, January 2026

Electrical
Car has been asleep after parking and will not wake up leaving all electrical components dead. GM has not been able to repair and unfortunately this has occurred 5 times including twice the month of March, 2026. Having a car parked in an unsafe location and not being able to move it very unsettling. After 30-60 minutes the car will start back up and operate normally.

BrakesCrash reported
I was in a public parking lot and slowly approached a parking space in front of a store. When I applied the brakes to stop in the space, the car did not respond, it continued to drive forward, up the curb, crashed through the store front, and eventually came to rest mid-way in the store, amidst the furniture and store structure.

Recalls to confirm (3)

Recall repairs are free at any Cadillac dealer, but the seller may never have had them done. Check each campaign number against the VIN.

  1. 25V483000ElectricalJul 2025

General Motors (GM) is recalling certain 2026 Cadillac VISTIQ vehicles and 2025 Cadillac LYRIQ vehicles. The bolts attaching the high voltage battery to the interior floor may be missing or loose.

Risk: An improperly secured battery may become damaged in a crash, increasing the risk of a fire.

Fix: Dealers will inspect the high-voltage battery bolts and replace or re-tighten the bolts, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are scheduled to be mailed September 8, 2025. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223. GM's number for this recall is N252511300.

  2. 25V232000SuspensionApr 2025

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023-2025 Cadillac LYRIQ vehicles. The left or right front stabilizer bar bracket bolts may have been improperly tightened, which can allow the bolts to loosen and separate from the vehicle frame. A detached stabilizer bar or bracket can damage the vehicle's high voltage cables or EV battery coolant lines.

Risk: Damaged cables or coolant lines can result in a vehicle shutdown, causing a loss of drive power and increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Dealers will inspect and tighten the left and/or right stabilizer bar bracket bolts, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 8, 2025. Owners may contact Cadilac customer service at 1-800-333-4223. GM's number for this recall is N252494190.

  3. 25V193000SeatsMar 2025

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2025 Cadillac LYRIQ vehicles. The owner's manual inaccurately describes the rear outboard head restraints. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 202, "Head Restraints.".

Risk: Incorrect head restraint information may lead to improperly adjusted head restraints, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Fix: GM will mail owner's manual inserts with the correct illustrations and descriptions for rear outboard head restraints, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 30, 2025. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N252492340.
