Worth adding to your 2025 checks

  • Back up in a dark driveway at night and check whether the reverse lights show what is behind the car.
  • Drive an unlit road at night on low beams and judge how far ahead the road is lit.
  • Check whether the car has LED HD Matrix headlights, and test those low beams at night before buying.

  • The 2025 Porsche Cayenne was sold in four versions. Confirm which one this is from the window sticker, the engine cover, or the VIN report before you compare prices.
  • On the plug-in hybrid, watch for the car moving off on electric power at low speed and for any hybrid system warning on the dash.
  • Reset the trip computer at the start of the drive. A Cayenne that averages well under the EPA 18 mpg combined on a mixed route may have an engine or tire problem.

Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2025 Porsche Cayenne, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Automatic emergency braking3No crashes

Driver-assistance systems shut off without warning, and the dash shows several failure messages at once. Adaptive cruise control and related safety features drop out, sometimes at highway speed, with no collision, impact, or damage to explain it. The faults are erratic and come and go often. They have appeared on nearly new cars. Dealers working under warranty have had trouble finding a cause. When adaptive cruise cuts out at speed, the driver has to take over right away. Only 3 complaints are on file, so this is a small sample.

The attached photos show several instances where the car’s safety systems failed. These cases have been erratic, and begin and end frequently. The car is under warranty, but my dealer cannot discern what causes the problems.
