Worth adding to your 2026 checks

Which Santa Fe is it?

VersionDriveEPA rating
2.5L 4-cylGasAWD, FWD23–24 mpg
1.6L 4-cylHybridAWD, FWD34–36 mpg
  • The 2026 Hyundai Santa Fe was sold in two versions. Confirm which one this is from the window sticker, the engine cover, or the VIN report before you compare prices.
  • On the hybrid, watch for the car moving off on electric power at low speed and for any hybrid system warning on the dash.
  • Reset the trip computer at the start of the drive. A Santa Fe that averages well under the EPA 23 mpg combined on a mixed route may have an engine or tire problem.

Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2026 Hyundai Santa Fe, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Wipers and visibility2No crashes

Wipers stop on their own while driving, then restart after a short pause. No warning light comes on before, during, or after. In snow, each pause lets the windshield cover over quickly and blocks the driver's view, which is a clear crash risk. A separate report describes a rear side window shattering at highway speed with no warning, impact, or unusual noise, dropping glass into the back seat where a child seat was installed. Only 2 complaints are on file, and neither gives a mileage, so no repeat pattern is visible yet.

In owners' own words

Excerpts from complaints Santa Fe owners filed with NHTSA, as written. Listen for the same symptoms on your test drive.

Wipers and visibility
The car was brought to the dealership where it was purchased. The right rear passenger window exploded while on the highway; the pieces then shattered and fell into the child safety seat installed. There were no other vehicles around as I was driving and the temperature inside the car and outside were about the same. There were no warnings and there was no abnormal noises or flexing prior to the window completely shattering.
