Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2022 Chevrolet Trax, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Engine3No crashes

A lit check engine light is the common thread, but the causes vary widely. The most serious reports describe misfires, smoke from the exhaust, and a dealer diagnosis of engine failure needing full replacement at around 44,000 miles. Others describe the car slowing on its own and losing power while driving, which is a hazard in traffic, followed by several warning lights and conflicting diagnoses about the battery. A fault in the EVAP leak detection pump also triggers the light. With only 3 complaints filed, no repeat pattern is clear yet.
