Worth adding to your 2024 checks

  • Start the car after it sits overnight in the cold and confirm the instrument cluster lights up immediately.
  • Plug into a Level 2 charger and confirm it starts and keeps charging with no charge-port warning.
  • Ask for service records showing any ICCU or high-voltage fuse replacements and how many times they occurred.

Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2024 Genesis GV60, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Electrical8No crashes

Sudden loss of drive power is the most serious pattern. Warnings appear, then the car drops into a slow limp mode or rolls to a stop, sometimes at freeway speed, and needs a tow. At least one case was traced to the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU), and some failures follow earlier ICCU repairs. The other common complaint is a blank instrument cluster at startup. It can stay dark for several minutes, hiding speed and alerts, and dealer software updates have not always fixed it. One report describes a car stuck in neutral on a hill with stiff steering.

  • Body and structure2No crashes

The chrome trim strip along the top of the windshield, roughly 52 inches long, comes loose and flies off at highway speed. It sits out of the driver's view, so the loss may go unnoticed until later. A strip that size is a hazard to cars and motorcyclists following behind. Both reports describe the same part failing the same way, and one dealer replaced it under warranty.

In owners' own words

Excerpts from complaints GV60 owners filed with NHTSA, as written. Listen for the same symptoms on your test drive.

Electrical
Electrical failure. Car was stuck in neutral on a hill with houses behind. Could not put in park, apply hazard light, or apply emergency brake. Could not exit the car safely due the fact if you took your foot of the brake the car would roll backward down hill uncontrolled. Steering was very stiff or locked so is was impossible to direct car to safe spot at the bottom of the hill. Have video documentation.

Filed with NHTSA, January 2026

Electrical
The main cluster display periodically remains black, off or dark. When this happens you are unable to see your speed, lane departure, battery percentage and other vehicle stats. Car has been to the dealer twice for software updates but they have not fixed the problem. Genesis Owner forums state that others within the US have similar problems.
