Reported on other XT4 years with the same design

Few owners have reported problems with this year yet. These years share the 2022's design and most of its parts, so their problems are the ones to look for on this car too.

Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2022 Cadillac XT4, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Brakes2No crashes

Front brakes squeak when the car backs up, usually on the first drive of the morning. The noise then stops for the rest of the trip. It sounds like a worn-pad warning, but dealer checks find plenty of pad left, around 8 to 9 mm. Dealers call the noise a characteristic of the vehicle and decline to replace parts for it. One suggested replacing all pads and rotors at the owner's expense. Neither report describes weaker stopping or any crash.

How the 2022 compares with other XT4 years

Complaints for this year next to the average for the other model years, area by area.

The 2022 has the fewest owner complaints of the 7 XT4 years we cover, well under the average of the others. Newer years have had less time to collect complaints, so compare like with like.

Where the 2022 fits in the XT4's history

Redesigns and mid-cycle updates change what can go wrong.

The 2022 is the fourth model year of the XT4's first generation (2019 on).

Cadillac updated the XT4 for 2024, so a 2022 does not have those changes.

What changed for 2024 (not on a 2022)

  • Restyled front end
  • Updated interior with a 33-inch curved LED touchscreen display
  • Optional 13-speaker AKG stereo system
  • Upgrade of Wi-Fi hotspot to 5G

Recalls to confirm (1)

Recall repairs are free at any Cadillac dealer, but the seller may never have had them done. Check each campaign number against the VIN.

  1. 22V359000SeatsMay 2022

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021 Chevrolet Malibu, 2022 Chevrolet Equinox, Blazer and Cadillac XT4 vehicles. The driver's seat cushion frame may have an improper weld in the power tilt-adjustment mechanism.

Risk: An improperly welded seat frame may not adequately restrain the driver in a crash, increasing their risk of injury.

Fix: Dealers will inspect the driver's seat and replace the cushion frame, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 23, 2022. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N212356050.
