Reported on other Supra years with the same design

These years share the 2023's design and most of its parts, so their problems are the ones to look for on this car too.

Worth adding to your 2023 checks

  • Ask for service records showing any power steering motor diagnosis or replacement.
  • Ask whether the engine has been modified, since one owner was denied warranty steering repairs over modifications.

Which Supra is it?

EPA figures for each version of the 2023 Toyota Supra. Use them to confirm you are looking at the version that was advertised, and as a yardstick on the test drive.

VersionDriveEPA rating
2.0L 4-cylRWD27 mpg
3.0L 6-cylRWD26 mpg
  • The 2023 Toyota Supra was sold in two versions. Confirm which one this is from the window sticker, the engine cover, or the VIN report before you compare prices.
  • Reset the trip computer at the start of the drive. A Supra that averages well under the EPA 26 mpg combined on a mixed route may have an engine or tire problem.

Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2023 Toyota Supra, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Brakes3No crashes

The electronic parking brake releases by itself, and the car can roll away. Reports center on the manual transmission version. The pattern repeats: with the brake set, the driver shifts to neutral and lets out the clutch pedal, and the brake disengages without any other input. It can happen right after startup or after the car has been driven. Depending on the slope, the car then creeps forward or backward, which puts people nearby at risk. Drivers also say this makes it unsafe to step out with the engine running. No mileage pattern appears in the reports.

In owners' own words

Excerpts from complaints Supra owners filed with NHTSA, as written. Listen for the same symptoms on your test drive.

Brakes
Electronic parking brake will intermittently release unintentionally. Replication scenario is to set the parking brake, depress clutch pedal, put transmission in neutral, then release the clutch pedal. This can happen right after starting the car, or after the car has been in operation. Note that this is the manual transmission version of the car. Other owners have reported similar problems.
