Which Pacifica is it?

EPA figures for each version of the 2025 Chrysler Pacifica. Use them to confirm you are looking at the version that was advertised, and as a yardstick on the test drive.

VersionDriveEPA rating
3.6L 6-cylGasAWD, FWD20–22 mpg
3.6L 6-cylPlug-in hybridFWD520 mi range
  • The 2025 Chrysler Pacifica was sold in two versions. Confirm which one this is from the window sticker, the engine cover, or the VIN report before you compare prices.
  • On the plug-in hybrid, watch for the car moving off on electric power at low speed and for any hybrid system warning on the dash.
  • Reset the trip computer at the start of the drive. A Pacifica that averages well under the EPA 20 mpg combined on a mixed route may have an engine or tire problem.

Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2025 Chrysler Pacifica, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Engine3No crashes

A check engine light at around 9,000 miles comes before a major internal failure in two reports. Dealers replace the engine, and in one case they find metal inside. One van is on its third engine after the first replacement also fails. Another complaint describes hesitation after the van sits for a day or so. It creeps at about 5 mph from a stop, then suddenly accelerates normally, and this has happened over 20 times. Weak acceleration from a stop can leave the van exposed in traffic.

  • Acceleration and cruise control3No crashes

Adaptive cruise control misbehaves in two of the three reports. Symptoms include poor following distance, hard acceleration toward the car ahead, and late braking with brake warnings on the dash. A dealer replacement of a failed sensor at about 1,215 miles does not cure it. Another report describes the system shutting off at highway speed, followed by unintended acceleration past 100 mph that the brakes do not stop. A third complaint describes a sudden stall from 45 mph. All three carry clear crash risk.

  • Transmission2No crashes

In one report, a loud clunk during left turns comes before every dashboard warning light turns on and ABS and other safety features shut off. Restarting clears the lights until the next left turn. The van is nearly new when this starts. Another complaint describes the van rolling slightly in park on flat ground, resisting when backing up a slope or over grass, pulling right during lane changes, and rattling over bumps. Losing ABS and safety systems while driving raises crash risk.

In owners' own words

Excerpts from complaints Pacifica owners filed with NHTSA, as written. Listen for the same symptoms on your test drive.

Engine
My van has been in the shop for 22 days. They have replaced the engine 1 time and I had the van back 2 more times for check engine light issues and now the engine is being replaced for a a second time, so this is the 3rd engine in my 2025 Chrysler Pacifica that has 9100 miles on it.

Filed with NHTSA, February 2026

Engine
At 9,000 miles the check engine light came on. We took the van to the dealership and there was metal in the engine and the engine needs to be replaced.

Filed with NHTSA, January 2026

Acceleration and cruise control
While driving off from an intersection, the van abruptly stalled forcing other cars to honk at me as I rolled from 45 mph to a stop at a curb. 5 minutes of panic, the van restarted and I was on my way home with no further issues.

Filed with NHTSA, December 2025

Transmission
When i put van in park ,shut off,it moves a little even on flat surface. When i back up in grass or out of a sloped driveway the van acts like something is preventing it from going backwards. The van, when going from the right lane to the left will act like it pulls to the right, hard to explain. Also when going down a road with slight bumps it makes a noise like something is loose,a rattle like.
