Worth adding to your 2025 checks

  • Drive at least 30 minutes and watch for the instrument cluster or center screen going blank.
  • Ask for service records showing any stalling, shutdown or blank-dash repairs, and run a recall check by VIN.
  • Run the air conditioning on maximum throughout the test drive and confirm it blows cold the whole time.

Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2025 Buick Envista, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Electrical11No crashes

The digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen black out while driving. The speedometer, fuel gauge and radio all disappear, sometimes for about 30 seconds, then flicker back. Some drivers think the engine has shut off. Speakers drop out, the touchscreen freezes, and the rearview camera can fail. No warning light comes on first. Dealers often can't reproduce the fault, and reboots, reprogramming and factory resets don't stop it for some owners. A separate group of reports says windows lower even with the window lock on, or won't close.

  • Brakes21 crash

Two different brake failures appear here, and one involves a crash. In that case, the pedal goes soft and stops working on a highway exit ramp a little over a month after purchase. The driver steers into a curb to stop, and the dealer finds a failed master cylinder. The other report describes brake pulsation at 20,689 miles. Resurfacing the rotors does not fix it, and a later inspection finds a rear rotor rubbing against another component.

  • Engine2No crashes

Check engine lights come on early in ownership. One report describes the car shaking while going downhill at about 400 miles. Another cites a fault code pointing to the fuel management system, warning that the engine and transmission are not performing as expected. Neither car is diagnosed or repaired at the time of filing, and one owner cannot get a service appointment to confirm the problem.

In owners' own words

Excerpts from complaints Envista owners filed with NHTSA, as written. Listen for the same symptoms on your test drive.

Electrical
When driving my whole dashboard including the radio goes black. I brought the car in December 2024 and the first time it happened I thought I was tripping and said if it happened again I was going report it. Well yesterday it went black on me twice in one day two different times and that is scary because I was on the highway and didn’t know what was going on. This is a brand new car in it should not be doing this.

Electrical
Window will not go back up. Also when the windows are Locked ( Light indicator on) THEY STILL GO DOWN. My driver window was half way down and would not go back up. The Fuse was checked and Did not need to be replaced. Approximately 6 hours later window went back up.. WEIRD

Engine
I purchased the vehicle on 12/21/24, and I now have a check engine light with a code related to "The Engine and Transmission System is not performing as expected. An issue has been detected in the Fuel Management System used to maintain, control, and monitor fuel consumption." I am not sure if my safety is at risk as the service center cannot currently schedule a service appointment to confirm the issue.
