Worth adding to your 2024 checks

  • Run the VIN for open transmission and fuel-related recalls and confirm the dealer completed each repair.
  • Shift between reverse, drive, and manual mode several times and watch for a flashing gear indicator or failure to engage.
  • Drive at highway speed and confirm the car upshifts and responds to the throttle without staying stuck in one gear.

Which Corvette is it?

EPA figures for each version of the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette. Use them to confirm you are looking at the version that was advertised, and as a yardstick on the test drive.

  • The 2024 Chevrolet Corvette was sold in three versions. Confirm which one this is from the window sticker, the engine cover, or the VIN report before you compare prices.
  • On the hybrid, watch for the car moving off on electric power at low speed and for any hybrid system warning on the dash.
  • Reset the trip computer at the start of the drive. A Corvette that averages well under the EPA 15 mpg combined on a mixed route may have an engine or tire problem.

Why these checks: what owners reported

  • Electrical4No crashes

The radio, screen, and instrument cluster stay on after shutdown, draining the 12-volt battery and leaving the car unable to start. A new battery does not always fix it, and code U164F comes back. While driving, false hood or front latch warnings appear and the car limits speed to 25 mph. Acceleration is lost at highway speed with no brake lights, a serious crash risk. Dealers point to faulty connectors on late-2023 builds and to software, and some repairs drag on for months. A software update can leave the car fully dead, with the electric door buttons not working.

  • Wheels and tires2No crashes

Carbon fiber wheels cause trouble both in daily use and in the shop. Tires lose air, and many tire shops lack the equipment to mount tires on these wheels. One wheel ruptured during tire installation and injured the technician. Separate reports describe front wheels that are out of round, causing irregular tire wear and steering problems with no warning light. Warranty coverage for replacement wheels is denied even after a dealer confirms the defect.

  • Seat belts2No crashes

A seat belt retracts fully and locks, so it cannot be pulled out and the occupant rides unbelted. Several cars built on the same day are reported with the same failure. The rest of the complaints concern recall 24V418000. Owners get the recall notice but dealers have no parts for the repair, and the wait stretches beyond what owners consider reasonable. Some affected cars have not yet shown a failure.

In owners' own words

Seat belts
seat belt fully retracted and could not be released in first day. had to drive 155 miles without operating seatbelt. this is a safety issue. My build date was 9/22 if you look at the forums this was not the only car built that day with a failed seat belt. seems like bad parts to me.
