Worth adding to your 2023 checks

  • Run the VIN through federal recall records and confirm every open campaign has been completed by a dealer.
  • Stop at several lights in drive and confirm the car stays in gear and pulls away normally.
  • Back out of parking spaces several times and watch for shutdowns, abrupt stops, or unexpected shifts to park.

Why these checks: what owners reported

NHTSA complaints for the 2023 Audi e-tron GT, grouped by the part owners named. Open a row to read what goes wrong.

  • Electrical5No crashes

Charging stops at 70 percent while owners wait for a battery recall repair that dealers have not completed. Complaints describe a battery power reduced message, a reduced performance warning light, and much shorter range. Most reports are about a parts shortage rather than new breakdowns. Dealers say the repair part is not available yet, and promised delivery dates keep slipping. Waits run past 30 days and sometimes over four months. One complaint links the charge limit to fire concern. Another says the manufacturer called the delay a dealer problem.

In owners' own words

Excerpts from complaints e-tron GT owners filed with NHTSA, as written. Listen for the same symptoms on your test drive.

Electrical
There is an outstanding recall on my vehicle and Audi are not able to complete the recall for over 30 days. I am currently only able to charge the car to 70% for concern that the vehicle will catch fire. As a result the range of the vehicle has been reduced. I have contacted AudiUSA, who said it is not their issue but rather a problem with my dealer. My car's range has been reduced to 120 miles.

Where the 2023 fits in the e-tron GT's history

Redesigns and mid-cycle updates change what can go wrong.

The 2023 is the third model year of the e-tron GT's first generation (2021–2023).

Audi updated the e-tron GT for 2024, so a 2023 does not have those changes.

What changed for 2024 (not on a 2023)
